Trey Hendrickson Takes Subtle Shot at Bengals During Ravens' Uniform Reveal

The Baltimore Ravens unveiled new uniform and helmet designs this week, and as part of a fan event surrounding the reveal, newly added star Trey Hendrickson briefly took the stage.

Hendrickson spent the past five seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals, so his move to a division rival has already stirred mixed emotions in Cincinnati - and his comments may have added a bit more fuel to that.

While speaking, Hendrickson appeared to take a subtle shot at the Bengals.

"What an incredible honor it is to continue to play in the AFC North on the right side of the ball," Hendrickson said, drawing a loud reaction from the crowd. "And I'm excited to get to work. Obviously, the uniforms are gorgeous … ready to get out there and get to work."

Hendrickson's time in Cincinnati hit a wall over the last two seasons. While he remained on the field, there was plenty of off-field tension surrounding contract negotiations that never came to fruition, as the Bengals were unwilling to meet the deal he was seeking - which, ahead of last season, would have made him one of the highest-paid pass rushers in the NFL.

This past season, Hendrickson also spent much of the year sidelined with injury, and both sides ultimately agreed it was best to part ways in free agency. The Ravens didn't hesitate to move quickly, seizing the opportunity to add him.

He agreed to a four-year, $112 million deal with the Ravens and was also reportedly close to becoming teammates with Maxx Crosby before that move fell through. Hendrickson said he briefly believed he headed to play alongside Crosby, which would have created one of the most dynamic edge-rushing duos in the league.

However, while the schedule has not yet been released, Hendrickson will now face the Bengals twice a year as a member of the AFC North, and his return to Cincinnati is expected to draw plenty of attention.
