Audi Crooks Outlines 2 Key Priorities for Her Next College Basketball Team
Former Iowa State star Audi Crooks isn't ready to choose a team for the 2026-27 season, but she's got a list of priorities she wants to check off this offseason.
Crooks, who earned All-American recognition this past season, averaged 25.8 points and 7.7 rebounds per game for the Cyclones. Although she's enjoyed plenty of success in Ames, she entered the transfer portal on April 2.
"Thank you all for embracing me and showing up to Hilton every single game day. I've met so many of you out in the community, and I will cherish all of the genuine connections that I've built during my time at Iowa State," Crooks said in a statement. "I still believe the grass is greener where you water it, and I've done that here. It's why I want you to hear from me directly that I have decided to enter the portal and explore what it means to take root again in new ground."
Crooks was recently asked about her future during an interview with Natalie Esquire of NBC Sports.
Not only does Crooks want to join a culture with "good quality people," she wants to be surrounded by 3-point shooters.
"I'm looking for culture, number one, first and foremost, somewhere with good people. You can be a good basketball player, but good quality people, good character, and great personalities is number one," Crooks said. "Number two, somewhere with some shooters. I need a little help from the outside to be an inside-outside threat type of team, and a dual threat team. And number three, somewhere that is gonna push me, push me hard, and develop me into who I want to be when my name is called, hopefully, here in New York [at the WNBA Draft href="https://thespun.com/wnba"]
She might stay in the Big 12.
According to On3's Talia Goodman, the Oklahoma State Cowgirls have emerged as a suitor for Crooks.
"Sources told On3 that Oklahoma State has entered the picture in Crooks' recruitment and is a program to keep an eye on for now," Goodman wrote.
Of course, Oklahoma State isn't the only program pursuing Crooks this offseason. Iowa, Maryland, Notre Dame and Oklahoma have all been mentioned as potential suitors for her.
