Giants May Draft Top WR Prospect After Dexter Lawrence Trade

The New York Giants aren’t guaranteed to come away with a star in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft, but they now have two chances to find one in the top 10.

Over the weekend, the Giants traded defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence II to the Cincinnati Bengals in exchange for the Bengals’ 10th overall pick in this year’s draft. That gives the Giants the No. 5 overall pick, which they earned by finishing last season at 4-13, and the No. 10 overall pick for the first round on Thursday night.

It also gives the Giants more flexibility at No. 5.

According to ESPN’s Peter Schrager, there are “two names to watch” for Giants fans: former Ohio State edge rusher Arvell Reese, “if he slips,” and former Arizona State wide receiver Jordyn Tyson.

NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported that 20 NFL teams, including the Giants, attended Tyson’s personal workout on Friday. Tyson had not worked out at the 2026 NFL Combine in late February or Arizona State’s Pro Day last month due to a lingering hamstring injury from last season.

Tyson, Ohio State’s Carnell Tate, and USC’s Makai Lemon have been tapped as the top-three wide receiver prospects in this class for months, but many draft experts have evaluated Tyson as the best pure talent. His injury history is the question, and it’s a big question mark.

Tyson began his collegiate career at Colorado in 2022 and blew out his knee - torn ACL, MCL, and PCL - which robbed him of his first season at Arizona State in 2023. His 2024 season was his best: 1,101 yards and 10 touchdowns on 75 catches. But he broke his collarbone toward the end of that season before nagging hamstring issues cost him four games last year.

In 2025, Tyson still managed to post 61 receptions for 711 yards and eight touchdowns.

From a purely football perspective, pairing Tyson with Malik Nabers would be fun. But from an injury perspective, Tyson might want to avoid the MetLife Stadium turf by any means necessary.
