North Piedmont Conference softball title belongs solely to South Iredell

TROUTMAN-South Iredell's softball team captured the North Piedmont Conference regular-season championship outright Tuesday night with its 8-7 victory over Davie County.

The Vikings (16-5, 8-1) led 8-0 after a three-run fourth inning. The War Eagles (10-10, 5-4) plated four runs in the fifth inning and three in the seventh but couldn't complete the comeback.

South Iredell outhit Davie 14-5.

CJ Haines went 3-for-3 with a home run, a triple and four RBIs.

Addi Myers was also 3-for-3 with a home run. She drove in two runs.

Keyonna Waddell provided two hits and an RBI. Mallory Messick also picked up a pair of hits. Addison Trego doubled.

The Vikings finish the regular season Friday at Mooresville. They won the first meeting with the Blue Devils, 10-3.
