Texas Predicted to Lose to Heated SEC Rival for 5-Star Recruit

The Texas Longhorns continue to push for interior offensive lineman Kennedy Brown, out of Houston, Texas. Steve Sarkisian and his staff have hosted the pass protector for three unofficial visits in Austin. The most recent came on March 24.

Brown, a five-star recruit, the No. 3 interior offensive lineman and the No. 15 player in the nation, per Rivals Industry Rankings, is a top priority for the Longhorns. However, they are not the only team looking for a commitment.

He has also taken visits with programs such as the Nebraska Cornhuskers, Alabama Crimson Tide, Clemson Tigers, Texas A&M Aggies and Oregon Ducks.

The Longhorns have remained right in the mix. With a 2027 recruiting class that already ranks sixth in the SEC and 12th in the nation with nine commitments, Texas is looking to make Brown its second five-star addition alongside wide receiver Easton Royal.

Despite already getting the pass protector on campus three times, another team is emerging as the favorite. On Wednesday, Rivals' Bryan Munson logged an expert prediction for Brown to choose Texas A&M. He has been correct on 80.90% of his 199 all-time predictions.

The Aggies have quickly put together a 2027 cycle, which ranks first in the nation with 12 commitments. Adding Brown would only increase their lead and give them their fourth five-star commitment.

While a prediction doesn't mean the Longhorns are completely out of the race, they may need to start looking elsewhere to build up their offensive line. Sarkisian and his staff do have offers out to several other IOL options, including four-star Ismael Camara, four-star Caden Moss and four-star Peyton Miller.
