Mets' Francisco Lindor Leaves With Injury After Juan Soto Returns to Lineup
With the New York Mets attempting to end their frustrating 12-game losing streak in the early MLB season, things appeared to be looking up as Juan Soto returned to the lineup from the injured list.
However, with his addition to the roster for Wednesday’s game against the Minnesota Twins, another setback also arrived. The team removed shortstop Francisco Lindor from the game with calf tightness after he helped New York claim an early 2-1 lead.
Lindor scored from first base in the fourth inning to help his team get ahead. Soon after that, he left for the remainder of the game, after going 2-for-2, including an RBI single to score Bo Bichette in the first inning. Brett Baty replaced Lindor for the rest of the game.

The Mets went on to win the game 3-2, as they held off the Twins’ rally attempt in the top of the ninth inning. That finally ended the suffering, as their 12-game losing streak had ended.
One has to wonder if they might have found some momentum, although the potential loss of Lindor, who was essential in helping them get this win, is a significant concern.
First baseman Mark Vientos and catcher Francisco Alvarez also provided RBIs in the team's first win in over two weeks. Relief pitcher Luke Weaver picked up his second victory of the season.
More details on Lindor’s injury will arrive after the game, with the two-time Gold Glove winner and four-time Silver Slugger batting .226 this season with two home runs and five RBIs.
As mentioned, Mets star Juan Soto also returned after missing 15 games with a right calf strain. In three at-bats, he walked once and hit a single. His return definitely brings help for this struggling New York team, which is now 8-16 overall and 4-7 at home.
New York returns to action on Thursday evening as they finish up their series with the Minnesota Twins. From there, they’ll host a home series against the Colorado Rockies and one against the Washington Nationals before embarking on a nine-game road trip.
