Monique Billings Declares What She Brings to the Table for Fever
Monique Billings brings eight years of WNBA experience to the Indiana Fever after signing a two-year contract on April 11. The 29-year-old forward will earn $800,000 per season under the new deal as she begins her stint in Indianapolis.
Billings comes off an impressive one-year run with the Golden State Valkyries before joining the Fever. The Valkyries became the first WNBA expansion team to reach the playoffs in their first season in 2025. The 6-foot-4 forward averaged 7.3 points per game over 26 appearances for Golden State.
Billings previously played for the Atlanta Dream, Dallas Wings and Phoenix Mercury. She spent six seasons with Atlanta from 2018 to 2023 and had brief stints with Dallas and Phoenix in 2024. The WNBA veteran holds career averages of 6.3 points and 5.6 rebounds across 239 games.
While those numbers are not exactly mind-boggling, head coach Stephanie White believes Billings brings more value than her box score suggests. When asked what she can bring to the Fever beyond being an established league player, Billings emphasized leadership.
"Yeah, I would say leadership," Billings recently told reporters. "Being an older player, being a vet, I think that's something important that I bring to this group.
"Obviously, the basketball stuff, that's going to be there too. But I think along with that, this group can use a leader."
Billings then cited Sophie Cunningham's leadership style and expressed hope to play a similar leadership role herself on the team.
"I think Sophie has stepped up in that," the veteran forward said. "I think I could be another person on this team who contributes in that way."
Mo saying that one of the main things she can bring to the Fever roster is to be their vet (alongside Sophie) has me emotional because of a *certain someone* who abandoned the team after promising the same thing

But I believe in Mo 10000000x more.

Cunningham is an eight-year veteran guard who brings experience to help guide the young Indiana backcourt, including Caitlin Clark.
Billings signed with the Fever after three-time WNBA champion and 12-year veteran forward Natasha Howard left for the Minnesota Lynx. Veteran guard Erica Wheeler also parted ways with Indiana, signing with the Los Angeles Sparks in free agency.
Billings is expected to help fill the void left by those departures. The Riverside, California native can provide the Fever with an experienced, stabilizing presence to guide a young championship contender.
