Steelers Praised for Move That Should Please Aaron Rodgers in Draft

The 2026 NFL draft is officially in the books, and now, it’s time to look ahead to the 2026-27 season with these new lineups in place.

Now, NFL analysts and experts are sharing their thoughts on the moves that were made, and not made, during the three-day event.

NFL draft analyst Rob Rang of Fox Sports has published his tally of the best and worst moves in the draft.

“It will take at least three years before we can truly assess how the 32 NFL teams fared over the weekend,” he notes in the piece. “But what is readily apparent is the different approaches that were taken, from going for the best available talent to focusing on team needs to gambling on character concerns and long-term potential.”

For the Pittsburgh Steelers, he loves their draft class, especially what it does for Aaron Rodgers. He gives them an “A-” grade.

“The Steelers did a remarkable job of hosting the draft this year and GM Omar Khan put together one of this year’s better classes, as well, thrilling the home crowd,” he notes in the piece. “I like the investment in gifted young tackle Max Iheanachor at No. 21 overall, even if it was a pivot after the Eagles swooped in to nab wideout Makai Lemon a pick earlier.”

While he’s happy with most of the Steelers’ picks, he does highlight on in regard to Rodgers. “Pittsburgh added a special teams ace in Kaden Wetjen, one of the best guards of this class in Gennings Dunker, a cornerback with the traits worthy of developing in Daylen Everette - and perhaps most importantly, a quarterback with the size and big arm to push Aaron Rodgers - either back onto the roster or into retirement.”

Grading Pittsburgh Steelers’ Draft Class

The Steelers are in that strange place in a franchise where they don’t totally need a rebuild but they need a reboot. This new draft class makes a statement for Mike McCarthy and starts his era with a strong slate of talent.
