Dana White Reacts After White House Correspondents' Dinner Shooting

The White House Correspondents' Dinner took a chaotic turn when a gunman charged a security checkpoint outside the Washington Hilton ballroom on Saturday night. UFC President Dana White, a longtime friend of President Donald Trump, was in attendance and gave his immediate reaction to the incident.

The shooting caused immediate panic inside the ballroom, which held over 2,000 guests, including journalists, politicians, and celebrities. As law enforcement officers stormed in, yelling for guests to take cover, White remained standing, seemingly in awe of the situation.

'It Was F-ing Awesome'

Speaking to reporters while exiting the hotel, the UFC boss recounted the experience with a bizarre sense of admiration (via NBC senior justice reporter, Ryan Reilly on X):

"All of a sudden, it just started getting noisy. Tables started getting flipped over, guys running in with guns, and they were screaming, 'Get down!'" he stated.

White then claims, "I didn't get down. It was f-ing awesome, and I literally took every minute of it in. It was a pretty crazy, unique experience."

Another video was released of White's actual reaction amidst the incident, proving that his recollection of the incident was accurate (via CBS News anchor Tony Dokoupil on X):

White's proximity to the president added a serious layer of tension to his nonchalance. He emphasized that his table was directly in front of the president's seat.

"Nobody got tackled, but guys came in looking for the shooter. And they came toward our table. I thought the shooter was over by us or something," White added.

Reactions to Dana White

While political leaders and journalists processed the trauma of the incident, White's nonchalant summary of the night drew both amusement and sharp criticism online (sourced from responses to Championship Rounds on X sharing the White interview):

"Bro just soaking in an active shooter situation like it's a spiritual experience, wtf."

"I've been in the presence of an active shooter twice. Nothing about it was f-- awesome. That's the goofiest response humanly possible."

"Getting down isn't about you. It's so they have line of sight. Not smart."

"That's because you knew of this staged event in advance! Looked like a poorly directed Hollywood flop!"

"Bro is so rich and bored, a shooting becomes a crazy, unique experience."

"Knew this c-- was weird, and this just confirms it. What a weird thing to say, FFS."

"He's gonna use this as hype for the White House card."

The Aftermath and Investigation

White attended the event as a guest of the president, seated alongside executives from Paramount Skydance, the UFC's broadcast partners.

The night, intended to celebrate press freedom and political satire, dissolved into a crime scene, with law enforcement moving quickly to secure the area. Washington, D.C.'s interim police chief, Jeffery Carroll, confirmed the suspect was armed with multiple weapons, including guns and knives.

Carroll wrote a manifesto that was sent to his family members shortly before the attack.

In it, he wrote, "I am no longer willing to permit a pedophile, rapist, and traitor to coat my hands with his crimes."

Trump appeared on CBS's 60 Minutes to address the situation:

Addressing the alleged shooter's manifesto, Trump responded to interviewer Norah O'Donnell, "Yeah, he did write that. I'm not a rapist. I didn't rape anybody."

He continued to tell O'Donnell, "I'm not a pedophile... You read that crap from some sick person? I got associated with stuff that has nothing to do with me. I was totally exonerated. Your friends on the other side of the plate are the ones that were involved with, let's say, Epstein or other things. You know, he's a sick person. But you should be ashamed of yourself for reading that because I'm not any of those things."

Authorities later revealed that Allen was a guest at the Washington Hilton hotel, where the event took place. US Attorney Jeanine Pirro announced the suspect faced charges for using a firearm during a crime of violence and assaulting a federal officer with a dangerous weapon.

Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche stated on Sunday that preliminary findings suggested Trump administration officials were the target (via CBS News on YouTube):

"We do believe, based on a very preliminary understanding of what happened, that he was targeting members of the administration," Blanche told CBS.

While this incident didn't take place at the White House itself, security for UFC Freedom 250 at the White House this summer will be of utmost priority.
