Rams Asked Ty Simpson to Lie at 2026 NFL Draft - Here's Why
Ty Simpson had a secret he wanted to tell the world at the start of the new week following the 2026 NFL Draft, where he went No. 13 overall to the Los Angeles Rams.
The former Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback spoke openly about not having met with Rams head coach Sean McVay or general manager Les Snead before his big night, showing genuine surprise that the Rams had prioritized him so highly.
Well, that might not have been the whole truth, and the Rams made sure that Simpson’s first QB fake with the organization came as early as humanly possible for the 23-year-old.

Simspon admitted in an interview earlier this week that he had several secret meetings with McVay and the Rams in the lead-up to the draft, including a meeting where the Crimson Tide signal-caller and McVay broke down football concepts for hours.
And on Tuesday, on “The Pat McAfee Show,” Snead went on the show to expose the entire ordeal, admitting that they had asked Simpson to play up the facade that the Rams hadn’t been interested in through the draft, so no one moved ahead of them for the QB.
Snead went on to say that he was also in the room for the meeting of the high football-IQ minds between Simpson and McVay, stating that their back-and-forth was beyond his understanding of the game.
What hasn’t changed since Thursday night at the draft is where Simpson is positioned in the Rams’ ultimate plans.
Until reigning MVP Matthew Stafford is done playing football, the L.A. Rams will be his team. And when he finally decides to enter retirement, be that in 2027 or years down the line, that’s when the Simpson will take the torch as the franchise’s starting QB, hopefully ready to take over following the mentorship of Stafford.
