Mike Tirico Butchered Tina Fey's Name During Knicks vs. Hawks
It turns out even the great Mike Tirico can make a brutal mistake in the broadcast booth.
On Tuesday night, Tirico had the honor of calling Game 5 of the first-round series between the Atlanta Hawks and New York Knicks. During the final minute of the first half, NBC's camera crew showed Timothee Chalamet, Tina Fey, Kylie Jenner, Tracy Morgan and Ben Stiller sitting courtside at Madison Square Garden.
As Tirico was naming a few of these celebrities, he accidentally referred to Tina Fey as Tina Fox. It didn't take long for NBC's viewers to mock the longtime play-by-play commentator.
"Mike Tirico just called Tina Fey "Tina Fox" and skipped over Kylie Jenner entirely when mentioning all the celebrities on celebrity row," one person wrote on social media.
"Idk who Tina Fox is but she looks A LOT like Tina Fey," a Knicks fan said.
"Tina FEY - not Fox!!! Put some respect on her name," another person commented.
"Tirico calling her Tina Fox is taking me out," a social media user wrote.
Fans also complained about Tirico's broadcast partner.
Even though Tirico's mistake is what grabbed everyone's attention, Hawks and Knicks fans complained about Reggie Miller's commentary.
"Reggie Miller and Mike Tirico are so biased," a Hawks fan wrote on social media. "They don't even try to hide it."
"I think Reggie Miller has officially surpassed Doris Burke for the most annoying commentator in the NBA," one fan said.
"Reggie Miller rooting for the Hawks during the broadcast is getting annoying," a Knicks fan wrote on X.
It's safe to say NBA fans weren't pleased with NBC's broadcast on Tuesday night.
