Shohei Ohtani Makes MLB History in Dodgers' Loss to Marlins
The Los Angeles Dodgers lost 2-1 against the Miami Marlins on Tuesday night, but it was yet another gem on the mound from Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani
Ohtani pitched six innings, allowing five hits, three walks, just one earned run, and struck out nine batters.
However, Marlins starting pitcher Janson Junk matched Ohtani’s performance, also pitching six innings, but gave up just three hits and zero earned runs.
Nonetheless, some history emerged from the game surrounding Ohtani.
According to OptaSTATS, Ohtani went at least six innings, allowed no more than five hits, allowed no more than one earned run, and has yet to allow home run in all five of his pitching starts this season, which no other MLB pitcher has done in there first five starts of the season since ER became official all the way back in 1913.

The only downside of Ohtani pitching is that Dave Roberts opted not to include him in the lineup on his start days, a move designed to manage the two-way star's workload and give him additional rest.
Roberts further explained the approach ahead of the Dodgers' loss
"His goal is to make every start, and so with that, there has to be some compromise and some openness to kind of read and react," Roberts said. "So far, I think we're doing a nice job and he's open to that."
Ohtani seems to be fully committed to that decision by the Dodgers, which he spoke about through an interpreter.
“I’m always going to respect the decision regardless whether I’m pitching or doing both,” Ohtani said. “I also understand the importance of getting to the end of the season with everybody healthy. So talking with the training staff, talking with the team, I think it’s really important that the team makes the decision on what’s good for the team.”
