Burnley's Scott Parker resigns, Michael Jackson named interim coach
April 30 (UPI) --Scott Parker stepped down as coach at Burnley, the Premier League franchise announced Thursday.
The Clarets announced that assistant Mike Jackson will serve as interim coach for the remainder of the season. They sit in 19th in the Premier League standings and already clinched demotion to the Championship, the second tier English soccer.
"Following confirmation of the club's relegation from the Premier League last week, Parker and the board held discussions and mutually agreed that his time at Turf Moor would conclude," Burnley said.
Parker helped the Clarets go on a 33-match unbeaten streak in 2024-25, securing promotion to the Premier League. The Clarets went 4-22-8 under Parker during their 2025-26 Premier League campaign.
"It has been an immense privilege to lead this great club over the past two years," Parker said in a statement. "I have enjoyed every moment of our journey together, but feel that now is the right time for both parties to move in a different direction."
The Clarets will will take on 15th-place Leeds (9-12-13) in another league match at 3 p.m. EDT Friday in Leeds, England. Their last three matchups will be against fifth-place Aston Villa (17-10-7), first-place Arsenal (22-5-7) and last-place Wolves (3-23-8), who also clinched relegation.
