NPC crowns Iredell baseball, softball teams tournament champs
BASEBALLLake Norman 10, South Iredell 4
TROUTMAN- Carson Beaver homered and drove in three runs Thursday night as Lake Norman defeated South Iredell 10-4 in the North Piedmont Conference tournament championship game.
Christian Sandoval doubled twice and drove in a pair of runs.
Sandoval was the winning pitcher. He went the distance, striking out seven and walking two while scattering six hits.
Lake Norman (16-10) scored three runs in the third inning and two in the fourth to open up an 8-2 lead.
Andres Acurero provided two hits for the Wildcats.
Brendan Blankenship hit a solo home run for the Vikings (14-12). Blake McDowell doubled twice and picked up a pair of RBIs, and Dylan Hughesman provided two hits.
SOFTBALLSouth Iredell 14, Mooresville 4
MOORESVILLE-Caroline Constable went 4-for-5 with a triple and a double, and the senior drove in four runs as South Iredell captured the North Piedmont Conference tournament championship Thursday with a 14-4 win over Mooresville.
Keyonna Waddell supplied two hits and three RBIs for the Vikings (19-6), who plated six runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to turn a 6-4 lead into a 12-4 stranglehold.
CJ Haines was 3-for-3 with a triple, double and two RBIs, while Addi Myers doubled twice and recorded two RBIs.
Gabriella Place provided one hit and two RBIs for the Blue Devils (14-8).
Lyric Dulin doubled and drove in a run.
