Bubba Wallace Faces Yet Another Setback Before Wurth 400 Sunday
A tough 2026 NASCAR Cup Series season got tougher for Bubba Wallace this weekend.
The 23XI Racing driver has had to watch his teammate, Tyler Reddick, rack up the wins. Reddick has five wins in 10 starts this year. Wallace, meanwhile, driving for the same team, has no wins, despite several top 10 finishes.
It's been a frustrating year for Wallace.
Wallace has had pit crew troubles, car issues and more, as his 23XI Racing team attempts to get going deeper into the season. But heading into Sunday's race, the Wurth 400, Wallace faced another setback.
Wallace suffered a tough setback during the qualifying round at Texas Motor Speedway for the Wurth 400.
The 23XI Racing driver lost control of his car, spun around and backed into the wall, causing severe damage. Now, he'll have to use his backup vehicle.
It's a tough setback for Wallace and 23XI Racing.
Wallace speaks out on the tough setback
Wallace made it clear that he's frustrated.
"This is a very unforgiving place," Wallace told Bob Pockrass. "I believe so [we 'll have to go to a backup]. … Speed should be just fine. It happens. I haven't crashed in practice in quite sometime. The positive of that is I pushed the limits, I found the limits, and it won't happen again."
It's been that kind of year.
"The sport is so hard," Wallace said recently. "When you're on it, you're on it. … We're close."
Wallace has had to watch his teammate rack up all of the wins, while he hasn't been able to come close.
"I've had no, ‘Man, why him?'" Wallace said. "It's just like, ‘Man, when is it our turn?'"
