Ayo Dosunmu Injury Update: Timberwolves Confirm Status for Game 1 vs. Spurs
The Minnesota Timberwolves enter Game 1 of their Western Conference semifinal series against the San Antonio Spurs dealing with multiple injuries after advancing past the Denver Nuggets in the first round.
Minnesota needed six games to beat the Nuggets, but they ended up punching second-round tickets despite missing key contributors, including franchise player Anthony Edwards, long-range shooter Donte DiVincenzo, and backup-turned-starter Ayo Dosunmu.
With Edwards' availability considered a long shot but not in question anymore, Dosunmu's status was the biggest injury question for the Wolves heading into the opener after missing the Game 6 closeout win against Denver with right calf soreness.
The Timberwolves initially listed him as "questionable," with head coach Chris Finch saying Saturday that Dosunmu had only participated in light practice activity and was still "day-to-day."
On Monday afternoon, just a few hours before the start of the second round, the Timberwolves announced their final Game 1 injury report and ruled Dosunmu out against San Antonio.
Minnesota is listing Dosunmu out with right calf soreness after previously carrying a questionable designation leading into the game with the same issue.
The update confirms Dosunmu will miss his second consecutive game after playing a key role earlier in the first-round series, appearing in all of the first five games against Denver, scoring 43 points in Game 4 alone, and following that with 18 points, four assists, and three rebounds in Game 5.

Minnesota will again be without DiVincenzo, who remains out following right Achilles tendon repair, while Edwards is listed as questionable with a left knee bone bruise but expected to play.
DiVincenzo and Dosunmu's absences leave Minnesota without two of its primary ball-handling options entering the second round, with Terrence Shannon Jr., Mike Conley, Bones Hyland, and Jaylen Clark expected to take on larger roles.
Game 1 between Minnesota and San Antonio is scheduled for Monday night at 9:30 p.m. ET.
