Jaylen Brown Punished by NBA After Comments on Celtics-76ers Game 7 Officiating

Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown did not hold back with his comments about how Game 7 between the Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers was officiated. The crucial game did not go the Celtics' way, and they were eliminated in the first round. After Boston's exit, he talked to his fans when he went live on Twitch.

One of the topics he talked about with his fans was how the game was officiated. He believes that the referees had an agenda with him, which is why they called a few offensive fouls on him.

However, the league did not appreciate what the star forward said, and he was fined on Tuesday.

"Boston Celtics guard-forward Jaylen Brown has been fined $50,000 for public criticism of the officiating, it was announced today by James Jones, Executive Vice President, Head of Basketball Operations," the NBA announced.

This is the second time this season that Brown has been fined by the league for his comments about officiating. He was fined $35,000 for his criticism of the referees during a regular-season game between the Celtics and the San Antonio Spurs that ended in a 100-95 loss. The team only received four fouls during the game, which infuriated the All-Star forward.

Regarding their Game 7 loss to the 76ers, Brown said on Twitch that he thinks the referees were targeting him.

"They keep saying, like there's push-offs and stuff like that," Brown said. "Do you know how many players do that? That's the common play, a basketball play. Every player does it. So why are you targeting me?"

"They clearly had an agenda. Maybe because I had spoken and was critical of the refs in the regular season. So you know how they responded? We're gonna call every - you're going to lead the playoffs in offensive fouls. That was the response from the officiating crew."

"I actually spoke to some refs, and they said there was an agenda going into each game," he continued. "Anytime Jaylen brings his arm up, just from reputation, just call it."

Against the 76ers, Brown finished with 33 points, nine rebounds and four assists. He was the only player who shot at least five times at the free-throw line. The Celtics star went 6-for-6 from the charity stripe. However, he had more issues with the offensive fouls called on him.

Brown and the Celtics have an early offseason after they blew a 3-1 lead in the opening round.
