Millions of Real Madrid Fans Sign Petition Against Kylian Mbappe
Over the past few days, a viral ‘Mbappé Out' petition has swept through the Real Madrid fanbase. Millions of Real Madrid fans have reportedly signed the online petition asking for the immediate departure of Kylian Mbappe. Some reports suggest the number could be much higher, with some estimates exceeding 4 million signatures in just a few days.
Still, these numbers need to be taken with a grain of salt. The site hosting the petition is pretty basic and doesn't even verify who's signing, so it's way too easy for people to sign multiple times or for bots to just inflate the total.
The petition is everywhere on social media, and fans have apparently had enough. It's been a rough end to the 2025-26 season for all Madristats, and they're letting their frustration show.

Things got more heated when photos of Mbappe in Sardinia with actress and girlfriend Ester Expósito popped up online while recovering from his left hamstring injury he sustained in late April, which had already put his participation in the upcoming El Clasico (May 10) in doubt. But fans were not happy with the timing of the holiday escape, especially with big games on the horizon.
Mbappe's camp pushed back quickly. In a statement, his representatives fired back saying this is an "over-interpretation" by fans. According to them, the club was supervising the whole thing, and this one trip definitely doesn't define his work ethic or how committed he is to the team."
Head coach Álvaro Arbeloa also tried to cool things down, saying players are free to manage their personal time as they see fit.
A storm despite Mbappe's stats
What makes the situation a bit weird is Mbappe's actual performance on the pitch. With 48 goal contributions (41 goals and 6 assists) in 41 matches, he has been Real Madrid's most productive player this season by a distance.
But Madrid have faced a disappointing campaign overall out of the Champions League in the quarterfinal, out of the Copa del Rey, and trailing FC Barcelona by 11 points in La Liga with only a few matches left. In that context, frustration tends to land on the biggest names, and blame seems to land easily on Mbappe.
The Athletic has also reported of internal tension, including an alleged disagreement with a member of the coaching staff before a match against Real Betis. On top of that, some fans have started speculating that Mbappe could be more focused on upcoming international duties with France for the World Cup.
For now, there's no indication from the club that any decision is coming for the player who has been directly involved in roughly 42% of Real Madrid's league goals this season.
Mbappe is continuing his recovery work, even showing up at the training ground on a day off, according to recent reports
So, the petition is more about the fans venting their frustration. It's a classic Real Madrid situation: the bar is set so high that even if you're the top scorer, you're never truly safe.
