Lane Kiffin Announces Sam Leavitt Injury Update Amid College Football Offseason
LSU announced some good news regarding quarterback Sam Leavitt on Thursday.
According to LSU head coach Lane Kiffin, Leavitt is expected to be fully cleared from a foot injury this summer. He told the news to On3's Wilson Alexander.
Leavitt is set to have no limitations when the Tigers start preseason camp later in the summer.
Leavitt started his collegiate career at Michigan State and spent the 2023 season with the program before spending the next two seasons at Arizona State. He had his best season in 2024 when he helped lead the Sun Devils to the College Football Playoff, finishing with 2,885 yards through the air, 24 touchdowns, and six interceptions.

He'll now try to get back to that level in Baton Rouge with Kiffin as his head coach. Leavitt was one of the top quarterbacks in the transfer portal this winter before committing to LSU.
Leavitt is set to be LSU's starting quarterback for the 2026 season as the program tries to improve from its 7-6 record from last season. The 2025 season was Brian Kelly's fourth season as head coach before he was fired eight games into the season. Frank Wilson was the interim head coach for the final five games of the year before LSU hired Kiffin.
The Lane Kiffin era will start with a big game against Clemson on Sept. 5. It will be a nice test for LSU in Kiffin's first game before the program plays Louisiana Tech on Sept. 12. Kiffin will then return to Oxford for the LSU-Ole Miss game on Sept. 19.
