Is Neymar Playing Tonight for Santos vs. Red Bull Bragantino?

Pressure is starting to build around Santos. After seven straight league matches without a win, the Brazilian giants return home tonight to face Red Bull Bragantino in a game that already feels bigger than a regular midseason fixture. Santos sit 16th in the Brasileirão standings with 15 points, level with Corinthians near the relegation zone, while Bragantino arrive in much calmer circumstances up in seventh.

The visitors could hardly be entering with more momentum. Two consecutive wins have lifted confidence around the squad, especially after their huge 6-0 win over Blooming in the Copa Sudamericana.

The club is finally back at Vila Belmiro after four consecutive away fixtures, and there is a belief internally that the home atmosphere could help snap their difficult run. Santos have drawn six of their last seven league matches, showing signs of resilience without quite finding the breakthrough result they need.

Santos, meanwhile, badly need a spark. That is where Neymar comes in.

Neymar Available for Santos vs. Red Bull Bragantino

The 34-year-old is currently fit and playing, though his workload is being carefully managed. For example, he was recently rested for a match against Palmeiras on May 2 to avoid the risks associated with their artificial turf.

Neymar should play tonight at Vila Belmiro after steadily improving physically over the past few weeks. Since returning to his boyhood club, Neymar has contributed 5 goals and 3 assists in 12 appearances, gradually becoming the team's attacking reference point again after a stop-start beginning to the season.

For Santos fans, his presence alone changes the feeling around the match.

There is another reason tonight matters for Neymar personally. Carlo Ancelotti is due to reveal Brazil's final squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup on May 18. Neymar has already made the preliminary 55-man list, but every performance matters to make it into the final list.

Santos are expected to line up with Diógenes in goal behind Igor Vinicius, Lucas Veríssimo, João Ananias and Escobar. João Schmidt, Oliva and Gabriel Bontempo should anchor midfield, while Rollheiser supports a front two featuring Neymar alongside Gabigol.

Historically, this fixture rarely produces a clear favorite. Their last league encounter in September 2025 ended 2-2.

Tonight the focus is less about urgency. Santos need points. Neymar is expected to be there from the start to help try and deliver them. Kick is off today at 5:30 PM ET / 2:30 PM PT.
