Anthony Edwards' Surprising Admission About Victor Wembanyama Ejection
San Antonio Spurs superstar Victor Wembanyama was ejected early in the second quarter of Sunday night’s Game 4 matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
While fighting for possession of the ball, Wembanyama wound up and delivered a hard elbow to the jaw of Timberwolves forward Naz Reid. After reviewing the incident, referees issued the 7-foot-4 Frenchman a Flagrant 2 foul - marking the first ejection of his NBA career.
Despite Wembanyama’s unexpected absence, the Spurs held on for the majority of the game. The contest came down to the final minutes of the fourth quarter, where Anthony Edwards and the Timberwolves ultimately secured a 114-109 victory.
After the game, Edwards said Wembanyama’s absence actually made things more difficult for his team.
“Honestly, I think it was kind of harder,” Edwards said. “Of course they’re a really great team with him on the floor, but they play at lot slower when he’s on the floor.
“It’s just like when any team is missing their best player. Everyone just plays free, get more shots, more confidence. So I think it was a lot harder on us.”

Edwards put on a masterclass in Game 4, finishing the contest with a game-high 36 points. 16 of those points came in the fourth quarter as he led the Timberwolves to victory, tying the series at 2-2 heading into Game 5.
The Timberwolves and Spurs now head back to San Antonio for Game 5, which will tipoff at 8 p.m. ET on Tuesday.
