3 Most Likely Teams to Trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo This Offseason

Hey, remember those two months before the NBA trade deadline when people talked about whether Giannis Antetokounmpo would be traded from the Milwaukee Bucks to a new team?

And it all resulted in nothing?

Well, welcome back, as it seems like the “Greek Freak” is back on the trade table, and there will be even more interest this coming summer, as we could see some massive blockbuster trades go down in the NBA.

While ESPN’s senior NBA insider Shams Charania believes that the Bucks are more willing to trade their crown jewel this offseason, who are the teams most likely to pull off one of the biggest transactions of the past decade?

Here are my top three.

Los Angeles Lakers

They already pulled off the heist of the century when they got Luka Doncic for Anthony Davis, so getting Antetokounmpo in comparison wouldn’t seem so difficult.

The Lakers have a lot more to offer in terms of draft capital this offseason than they did at the trade deadline, and there is the possibility of a sign-and-trade with Austin Reaves going to the Bucks.

Would L.A. go all-in on the former MVP who is turning 32 this year? If they want to maximize Doncic’s chances of winning a ring (or more), then it could be the move.

Minnesota Timberwolves

While this depends on how their playoff run ends, the Timberwolves were reportedly one of the hungriest teams for Antetokounmpo at the deadline before the Bucks stopped returning calls.

Although it’d be interesting to see what Minnesota could put together to pair Anthony Edwards with Antetokounmpo, the Timberwolves feel like they’re on the cusp of a championship and have new ownership to be aggressive.

Boston Celtics

From one green team to another, the Celtics might be the favorite to land Antetokounmpo that no one is talking about.

Boston could offer up Jaylen Brown as the best single piece of any team in the race, and the Celtics might mortgage their future if it means that they can pair Jayson Tatum up with one of the best five players in basketball for the next half-decade.
