Azzi Fudd Gets ‘Master of Princess' Degree from Her Dallas Wings Teammates

Azzi Fudd is the latest player to experience the unique avalanche of pressure attached to being the No. 1 overall pick.

Fudd and the Dallas Wings have been under a microscope since the former UConn star landed with Dallas in the 2026 WNBA Draft on April 13, and criticism has intensified over the past week.

Fudd came off the bench in the Wings’ 107-104 season-opening win against the Indiana Fever last Saturday. She scored three points in 18 minutes of play. Then Fudd missed Tuesday’s home opener entirely with reported “swelling around her knee,” per Tim Cowlishaw.

Fudd’s most fervent fans are outraged, but if Fudd is dealing with a knee issue - she has a history of knee swelling and has suffered two torn ACLs in her right knee- the Wings are wise to slow play her rookie season.

But while she hasn’t yet been fully integrated on the court, Fudd seems to be fully embraced by her teammates.

On Wednesday, the Wings posted a video showing Fudd wearing a faux cap and gown. The video is soundtracked by the traditional graduation song while Fudd shakes the hands of everyone en route to veteran forward Alysha Clark.

“Congratulations on your degree, Master of Princess,” Clark says to Fudd, who is presented with a very official-looking “Certificate of Completion.” It’s a reference to Fudd’s “The People’s Princess” nickname.

Fudd actually earned her master’s degree in business administration from UConn this week, according to her player profile.

It might be a while before Fudd can give the people what they want on the court, or she could play in front of Wings fans in Dallas’ game against Minnesota on Thursday night. It’s impossible to know. But the Wings social media team is giving fans their Fudd fix regardless.
