Bryan Morrison of West Stokes wins two state titles at NCHSAA 4-A track and field championships; Carver boys finish fourth
Bryan Morrison won two state titles on Wednesday, in the 1600 and 3200-meter runs, at the NCHSAA 4-A track and field state championship meet at the Marcus T. Johnson track at N.C. A&T in Greensboro.
Morrison won the 1600 in 4 minutes, 15.99 seconds and won the 3200 in 9 minutes, 25.87 seconds.
Isaac Hazen of Forbush won the 4-A state championship in the pole vault after clearing 13-feet.
Ana Brown of Forbush finished third in the pole vault after clearing 9 feet.
The Carver boys finished fourth in the team standings behind strong performances from Derrick Reid Jr. and Jaydan Gause-Hughes.
Reid Jr. and Gause-Hughes finished second and third, respectively, in the 300-meter hurdles.
Reid finished in 38.07 seconds to edge his teammate, who finished in 38.31 seconds.
Gause-Hughes also had a third-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles, and the two also ran legs on the 4x400 relay team that finished in second place.
Chloe Shiffert of West Stokes finished third in the girls 800-meters in 2 minutes, 25.71 seconds, and the girls 4x800 meter relay team finished second.
