Dodgers Scratch Blake Snell From Start

The injury concerns continue to pile up for the Los Angeles Dodgers.

On Friday, the Dodgers scratched left-handed pitcher Blake Snell from his scheduled start against the Los Angeles Angels, per Katie Woo of The Athletic.

The Dodgers and manager Dave Roberts have not yet announced the reason for scratching Snell, but it is a worrying development considering the southpaw has already missed significant time this season.

Snell missed the first six weeks of the season with shoulder fatigue, which landed him on the IL on March 22. The 33-year-old has been limited to just one start this year, where he gave up four runs in three innings on May 9 against the Atlanta Braves.

Snell also missed four months with the Dodgers last season with the same injury that was described as left shoulder inflammation/fatigue. This limited him to a total of 11 starts in 2025.

According to Woo, the belief is that Snell getting scratched isn't due to the shoulder injury that he was on the IL for.

The Dodgers will be holding their breath and hoping that this is the case.

Snell signed a five-year, $182 million deal with the Dodgers during the 2024-2025 offseason.

If Snell is forced to miss time, the Dodgers have Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Shohei Ohtani, Emmet Sheehan and Roki Sasaki in their starting rotation. Right-hander Tyler Glasnow is already on the 15-day IL with lower back spasms.

As Woo also reported, Will Klein will start in Snell's place tonight as the opener in what will be a bullpen game.

Los Angeles enters play on Friday night with a 26-18 record. They're a half game up on the San Diego Padres for first place in the National League West.
