‘I Love It': Juan Soto Trolls Angry Yankees Fans After Subway Series Win

There haven’t been many laughs to be had for New York Mets players this season.

With one of the highest-paid rosters in all of baseball, the Mets have been one of the worst teams through the first quarter of the season.

To make matters worse, the crosstown rival New York Yankees have been thriving and are among the few American League teams that look like contenders.

On Saturday, though, the Mets got to knock down the Yankees for at least one night, winning 6-3 with two hits from their face of the franchise, Juan Soto.

Soto was interviewed after the game and discussed the jeers from the opposing Yankees fans who invaded Citi Field to harass their former player.

When asked how he felt about the Yankees faithful continuing to boo him two years after last putting on the pinstripes, Soto poked at the opposing New York team.

“I love it,” he said.

In another interview after the game, he expanded on the tension of the Subway Series and the history between the two New York franchises.

“I enjoyed every bit of it,” Soto went on. “Definitely some weird words that they say out there. They’re lucky that most of them, I don’t understand it.”

While it is fun and games on Saturday, the Mets will have to do a lot more of what they did tonight throughout the rest of the season if they have any hope of making a run for the postseason.

At 19-26, they’re still at the bottom of an NL East that seems already won with the Atlanta Braves surging ahead of the rest of the pack with 31 wins already.

A win on Sunday and clinching the series against the Yankees might be the first step to reviving the Mets’ season. If not, Soto will be sure to hear about it, from the Queens all the way to the Bronx.
