MLB Shares Juan Soto All-MLB Team Update Before Mets Game
The New York Mets enter Tuesday's matchup against the Washington Nationals sitting fifth in the NL East with a 21-26 record.
The team has ranked among the league's worst offenses, placing 25th in hits, home runs, RBI, batting average and 24th in runs scored; however, outfielder Juan Soto has been the one constant in a lineup that has otherwise struggled.
Through 32 games this season, Soto is batting .281 with six home runs, 16 RBI and a .873 OPS. On May 15, he hit his 250th career home run off of New York Yankees right-hander Cam Schlittler in the seventh inning. It was another milestone for a player who finished last season slashing .263/.396/.525 with a career-high 43 home runs, 105 RBI and a league-leading 127 walks.
MLB.com recognized his 2026 performance ahead of the Mets' game against the Nationals, naming Soto to its All-MLB First Team Poll as one of the three outfielders alongside Aaron Judge of the Yankees and Mike Trout of the Los Angeles Angels.

The selection carries added weight given the circumstances surrounding the Mets' roster.
The club has been without key contributors at multiple positions, including infielders Jorge Polanco and Francisco Lindor at various points this season, placing an even heavier burden on Soto to carry the offensive load.
With New York sitting five games under .500 and buried at the bottom of the NL East, Soto will need to sustain that level of play if the Mets hope to climb back into contention.
