UFC 6 New Fighter Ratings Explained: Here's What Changed
We are getting closer to the launch of EA SPORTS UFC 6, and EA has now revealed major new details about how fighter ratings will work in the next installment. The developers are calling it an ‘evolution,' and the changes appear focused on making fights feel more authentic, competitive, and skill-based than previous entries in the series.
Rather than simply choosing the highest-rated fighter on the roster, UFC 6 is pushing players toward finding athletes whose style, perks, movement, and strengths best fit how they want to compete inside the Octagon.
What's Changing With Fighter Ratings?
According to EA, ratings are now tied deeper into the overall gameplay ecosystem.
That includes:
- Flow State mechanics
- Fighter-specific animations
- Unique movement systems
- Perks and tendencies
- Player skill expression
- More balanced matchmaking across divisions
EA says the goal is to make more fighters viable while creating stronger fighter identity throughout the roster. A pressure boxer, chain wrestler, counter striker, or submission specialist should all feel dangerous in completely different ways.
The studio also confirmed that UFC 6 fighters are being balanced around the best version of their MMA careers rather than strictly current rankings or recent performances.
EA specifically pointed toward Tony Ferguson during his dominant 12-fight win streak as an example of the philosophy being used throughout the roster.
Meanwhile, Alex Pereira and Max Holloway were highlighted as examples of how fighter identity now goes beyond ratings alone. Pereira is built around devastating power and pressure, while Holloway's gameplay focuses heavily on speed, combinations, and building the new Flow State meter.
