Jimmy Butler Draws Attention on BottleRock Stage Amid Injury Recovery

The Golden State Warriors experienced a difficult season, marred by injuries to several key players, including Moses Moody near the end of the season, and six-time All-Star Jimmy Butler, whose season was cut short in January.

Butler sustained a knee injury against the Miami Heat, which, upon further evaluation and tests, was determined to be a torn ACL. He underwent successful surgery to repair the injury, but watched the remainder of his team’s season from the sidelines.

While Golden State was still in contention for the playoffs, they had to enter the Sofi Play-in Tournament, where they’d need to win two games.

They won their first game against the Los Angeles Clippers, thanks to Stephen Curry. They then fell short in their second game, as Devin Booker and the Suns moved into the Western Conference’s eighth seed and got a first-round matchup against Oklahoma City.

Meanwhile, Butler has been in rehabilitation and recovery mode this offseason. However, recent footage emerged of the Warriors star enjoying himself onstage at the BottleRock Napa Valley wine-and-music festival in Napa, California, on Friday.

In a moment of fun, video footage shows Butler hopping around on stage and singing along as Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” blares over the speakers, with festival attendees cheering him on.

“Don’t tell Steve! I got a torn ACL!” the Warriors star yells jokingly to the crowd as he keeps bopping to the music.

Most likely, his head coach, Steve Kerr, is well aware, thanks to the immediate impact of social media and online news.

Earlier this month, Kerr signed a two-year extension to remain as Golden State’s head coach, and Butler’s recent joking around comes ahead of what could be an intriguing offseason for the roster.

The six-time All-Star was part of the team’s plan to attempt to find another major star for the lineup to help Curry contend for another championship. Unfortunately, Butler’s injury prevented the Warriors from making a strong playoff run, especially when they’d have to battle teams like the Thunder and San Antonio Spurs.

This offseason could bring further attempts by the Warriors to land another star, and speculation suggests Butler could be part of a trade package. Two individuals mentioned as potential trade targets are Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo and Los Angeles Clippers star Kawhi Leonard.

Butler is currently under a $110.9 million two-year contract with Golden State and becomes an unrestricted free agent at the end of the 2026-27 season.

While the Warriors could look to move him and try a different direction with their roster, his injury situation makes it a bit riskier for prospective teams to place high value on him, given that they see him hopping on a festival stage rather than competing at a healthy level on a basketball court.
