Seahawks Legend Shaun Alexander Drops Bold Jadarian Price Claim

The Seattle Seahawks are still riding high after winning the Super Bowl over the New England Patriots in February.

Unfortunately, the Seahawks offense took a hit as offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak took the head coach job with the Las Vegas Raiders.

And, star running back and Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III signed a three-year deal with the Kansas City Chiefs right at the start of free agency.

The Seahawks still have Zach Charbonnet, and Seattle selected Notre Dame RB Jadarian Price with the final pick in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft.

Price's numbers don't jump off the page as much as they should, and that is because he was the backup to Heisman Trophy finalist and No. 3 pick Jeremiyah Love during his time in South Bend.

But, make no mistake, Price is a talented rusher, and former Seahawks star Shaun Alexander had a bold claim for the rookie.

Alexander said that Price will be the only rookie RB this season to rush for 1,000 yards.

Since 2020, only six rookie running backs have eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark in their first year, with Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Bucky Irving as the most recent to do so.

Love, who the Arizona Cardinals selected at No. 3, figures to be the lead back in Arizona, although former Atlanta Falcons RB Tyler Allgeier, who himself rushed for over 1,000 yards as a rookie in 2022.

Zach Charbonnet's Recovery is a Big Thing to Watch

As Alexander mentioned, Charbonnet's recovery will be a big key to whether or not Price can get 1,000 yards as a rookie.

Charbonnet suffered a torn ACL in the Divisional Round game and underwent surgery, and the timeframe for recovery is usually around 9-to-12 months.

Both Love and Price were widely regarded as the top two running backs in this class, and even though Price lost a lot of carries to Love, he was still able to hear his name called in the first round.

If he can learn the NFL offense quickly, Price could see a lot of carries early in the season until Charbonnet is fully recovered and ready to go.
