Mike Vrabel Shows Love to Wife Jen As Dust Settles on Dianna Russini Drama

New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel has had a treacherous past two months.

On April 7, Page Six blew up his and Dianna Russini’s lives by publishing bombshell photos of them at the Ambiente resort in Sedona, Arizona. The photos incited a scandal for two reasons. One, Russini was The Athletic’s senior NFL insider. Two, Russini and Vrabel are each married to different people. Russini has two young sons with her husband, Kevin Goldschmidt, and Vrabel shares two adult sons with his wife, Jen.

Initially, Russini and Vrabel denied any inappropriate behavior, but Page Six and TMZ have since released troves of photos and videos dating back to March 2020.

Russini resigned from The Athletic on April 14 and has not publicly commented otherwise. Vrabel met with the media twice in late April, taking “accountability for my actions, the actions that caused a distraction” and vowing to give his family and the Patriots “the best version of me” moving forward.

Vrabel missed Day 3 of the 2026 NFL Draft to attend counseling with his family, as ESPN’s Mike Reiss first reported. He met with the media for the first time since the draft on Wednesday.

“We all have to deal with things outside of here,” Vrabel said when asked about mitigating distractions. “My focus, and, obviously, the excitement that I have for coaching, is what is most important right now.”

Later in the 18-minute press conference, Vrabel described how he’s balancing family and football.

“My family is great,” Vrabel said. “I love Jen. I love the boys. I love my personal friends. This spring is focused on, really, the coaching staff - the players, more importantly than the coaching staff.”

Vrabel has been married to Jen since 1999.

Vrabel was an All-Pro linebacker and won three Super Bowls as a player on the Patriots in the early 2000s. He transitioned into coaching as a linebackers coach and defensive line coach at Ohio State from 2011 to 2013 before joining the Houston Texans in the same capacity from 2014 to 2017.

Vrabel was the Tennessee Titans’ head coach from 2018 to 2023, winning AP Coach of the Year in 2021 before his firing in January 2024. He became the Patriots’ head coach in January 2025 and flipped the team from a 3-14 finish in 2024 to a league-best 14-3 record last season.

New England reached Super Bowl LX, where the Seattle Seahawks emerged victorious, and Vrabel was named AP Coach of the Year.
