Blue Jays Receive Tyler Rogers Injury News After Orioles Games

The Toronto Blue Jays have spent most of this season trying to survive injuries and the last thing they need right now is another setback.

Toronto opened its road series against the Baltimore Orioles with a narrow 2-1 win at Camden Yards, improving to 28-29 on the season and remaining third in the American League East. Andrés Giménez delivered the game's biggest swing with a third-inning home run that put the Blue Jays ahead, while George Springer added an insurance run in the eighth after Yohendrick Piñango worked a walk. It was not flashy baseball, but it was exactly the kind of tight, low-scoring win Toronto has needed more consistently.

But Thursday night brought another scare. In the eighth inning, reliever Tyler Rogers took a 113-mph Pete Alonso ground ball directly off his left foot.

Rogers immediately reacted in visible pain and stepped away from the mound as trainers rushed out to check on him.

Fortunately for Toronto, the postgame update brought some relief. According to Sportsnet's Arden Zwelling, Rogers underwent X-rays on his left foot after the game, and the imaging came back negative, with no fracture detected.

This is positive news for Blue Jays head coach John Schneider who has been navigating a pitching staff that is already stretched thin.

Max Scherzer remains on the injured list, while Shane Bieber's season debut has been delayed following offseason elbow surgery. Cody Ponce suffered a torn ACL in his first start of the year, while Trey Yesavage missed the opening month with shoulder inflammation. Dylan Cease was also recently placed on the injured list after suffering a hamstring strain.

The Blue Jays now turn their attention to the second game of the series in Baltimore, with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. ET.
