Veronica Burton's Crucial Block on Caitlin Clark Is a Must-See

Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark struggled against the Golden State Valkyries on Thursday night. She was limited to 16 points on 3-of-12 shooting, although she tallied four rebounds, six assists and three steals.

Veronica Burton made life hard for Clark in the game. The Valkyries star, who had a season-best 25 points, recorded a career-high five blocks. Three of those blocks were against the Fever playmaker.

Burton's biggest block on Clark came in the fourth quarter when the Fever were trying to stage a comeback. With the Fever trailing 73-69, the 24-year-old tried to attack the basket in an attempt to cut the deficit to two points with seven minutes to play.

Unfortunately for Clark, Burton didn't allow her to get through. The Valkyries star proceeded to block her layup attempt for her fifth rejection of the night.

Fever Fans Have Same Reaction to Veronica Burton's Block on Caitlin Clark

While it was a great play from Burton, Fever fans couldn't help but complain about it.

Several Fever supporters pointed out that the referees should have called a foul on Burton, especially since she appeared to be holding Clark during her drive. There was also a noticeable contact between Burton and Clark that seemed to affect the shot.

"You need new referees. Instead of five blocks, she should have five fouls," a critic wrote. Another one said, "in basketball we call that a foul."

"So that's a foul," a viewer added.

"Hand checked the whole drive [expletive] refs," a social media user stated.

"Fully body contact all the way down before she lands, and no foul called?" a fifth poster shared.

Making matters worse for Clark and the Fever, they ended up losing to Burton and the Valkyries, 90-88. Indiana dropped to 4-3 with the loss, while Golden State improved to 5-2.
