Stephon Castle Sends Clear Message on Spurs Ahead of Game 7 Clash

After powering their way to a 118-91 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 6, the San Antonio Spurs are heading to a decisive final game in the Western Conference Finals.

The Spurs held a 60-53 lead at halftime as OKC kept fighting to cut the deficit and mount a comeback. However, the Spurs, charged by their hometown fans, maintained their intensity and outscored the Thunder 32-13 in the third quarter.

Ultimately, OKC couldn’t find a way to come back and waved the white flag by pulling their starters. The Spurs did the same in anticipation of what could be a classic Game 7.

Victor Wembanyama led the Spurs with 28 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Stephon Castle contributed 17 points, nine assists, and five rebounds.

Castle told reporters that it’s now “win or go home” for his team as they prepare for the massive battle with Oklahoma City on their home court.

“I think nothing else matters for the next 48 hours for us, so get all the recovery, watch all the film that you need to watch to have our minds and bodies ready for that 48 minutes,” Castle said.

It’s certainly going to be a challenge for San Antonio, which has already shown it can beat the Spurs in Oklahoma City. They defeated them several times there in the regular season, and of course, in that thrilling double-overtime game to start this series.

They’re young and less experienced, although Castle has played in big games during his college career, including a championship-winning season under Dan Hurley at UConn.

However, they’re also facing the defending champions, who are an experienced machine capable of handling this sort of battle.

This is the first series of their postseason run in which they’ve been taken to the limit, but they have also seemed to figure out the Spurs. Whenever they’ve lost a game to them in the series, they’ve responded with a big win.

Last year, the Thunder had two seven-game series, with Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets taking them to the decisive game in the Western Conference semifinals, and then the Indiana Pacers in the NBA Finals.

Meanwhile, this young Spurs team has rapidly improved, having missed last year’s postseason, and is now one game away from an impressive trip to the NBA Finals.
