Bubba Wallace Explains Why He Hates 'Talladega Nights'
As if Bubba Wallace wasn't already the most polarizing NASCAR driver on the circuit today, he may have kicked a hornet's nest with a nuclear hot take on perhaps the most beloved NASCAR movie ever.
Appearing on Bussin' With The Boys, Wallace revealed that he hates the 2006 Will Ferrell comedy movie Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby.
"It's the worst (expletive) movie ever," Wallace said bluntly.
The show hosts were outraged by Wallace's opinion and demanded that he explain himself. Wallace then explained that the film just makes a mockery of NASCAR and that the iconic "Shake and Bake" maneuver in the film is a total fantasy.
"Well it makes a mockery of the sport," Wallace said. "No one (expletive) 'shakes and bakes' dog."
A point?
As much as most people still adore the film 20 years on, NASCAR fans were willing to agree with Wallace that the film does not pay respect to the sport they love.
"He's right. Talladega Nights was more making fun of the sport vs being about the sport. Fun in a gimmick way, but overall a net negative imo," one user remarked in the comments.
"Friendly reminder that Kyle Larson said last year that the film "turned our sport into a joke" and there wasn't nearly the same outrage as Bubba Wallace not liking it," wrote another.
"I agree completely and don't think NASCAR should've ever tried to embrace it. It wasn't good for the sport," a third wrote.
However, some dismissed Wallace's comments, asserting that the film was a net positive and that he's taking it too seriously.
"Anyone who doesn't like Talladega nights because it makes a joke of the sport doesn't comprehend the genre of comedy."
"I get his take, but it brought eyes to the sport and obviously majority of people didn't take the movie literally."
"The movie is a comedy… Bubba Wallace is the worst."
"Now I see why everyone hates this dude."
You truly can't ever win them all over with an opinion.
