Double points night on tap for Saturday's eighth week of racing at Bowman Gray Stadium
The Myers Family is on a roll at Bowman Gray Stadium.
The three who are racing in the Modified Division – Jason, Slate and Burt – have each won the last three races of the series.
Last month, it was Jason and Slate who each won 25-lap races and then last week, Burt won the 100-lap race.
After last week's win in which Burt's son, Slate, finished second, NASCAR inspected the intake manifold of the two Myers' cars as well as Danny Bohn, who finished third.
Nothing was found to be illegal, and the race results become official and so did the points. Burt is leading in the points race as he chases his 13th championship.
The Modified Division will have two 25-lap races this Saturday for Week 8 of the 18-week season. It's also double points night for all the divisions.
The featured race is a 100-lap run in the Sportsman Division, and the Stadium Stock, which has been dominated by Luke Smith so far this season, will have a 50-lap race. The Street Stock Division will also have a 20-lap race.
Fleming changes it up
Chris Fleming will not drive his No. 16 car this week, but 75-year-old Crab Smith will be behind the wheel. Smith is a veteran driver on Fleming's team but hasn't driven yet this season.
Chris said he's not driving this weekend so he can help with his son's car.
"I'm going to help Jordan this week," Chris said on trying to change Jordan's luck.
Jordan heads into this week 12th in the points race.
Carter vows to be back
It wasn't a good week for track announcer Chris Carter, who was in the hospital with some heart issues.
Carter and Randy Pulliam are the tag-team track announcers who do a great job keeping the crowd updated and moving the show along each Saturday night.
Carter said on Facebook that he was out of the hospital and planned on being there for his weekly track duties.
"Thank you all," he said on Facebook to the fans, drivers and track officials who reached out to him. "It's overwhelming the amount of people who reached out … That means the world to me."
