Report: New York Times Editors Make 'Promise' On Dianna Russini Investigation

The New York Times and The Athletic's investigation into Dianna Russini's conduct is ongoing, as it reaches the two-month mark.

Russini, a prominent NFL insider, resigned from her position at The Athletic, as several photos surfaced of her interacting personally - and reportedly romantically - with Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel over the years.

While Russini denied improper conduct, she made it clear that she felt it was best to step down from her position at The Athletic, which is owned by the New York Times.

"I have come to this decision with deep sadness but with clarity about what is right for me, my family, and the work I have spent my career building," Russini wrote.

"I do not do so because I accept the narrative that has been constructed around this episode, but because I refuse to lend it further oxygen to let it define me or my career."

The New York Times and The Athletic have since announced that they are investigating Russini's behavior and past reporting.

However, as we're two months into the investigation, we've yet to get any kind of public update.

Page Six is now reporting that New York Times editors have "promised" that an update - and perhaps conclusion - is coming soon.

"Some inside the New York Times building are beginning to wonder what's taking so long with the Dianna Russini investigation, we're told - but top editors have reiterated promises that it's coming. Though they say a report is still 'weeks' away," Page Six reported on Monday.

Steven Ginsberg, The Athletic's top editor, said that an update is coming soon.

"It's going to take a few more weeks," he reportedly said, "There's just a lot to go through, and we obviously want to take our time and be careful doing that. We will update everybody when we get to the end of that. We've also said that if we find anything that needs to be corrected, we will correct it along the way."
