Victor Wembanyama Reportedly Had Knicks Fans 'Kicked Out' Of NYC Hotel
A New York Knicks fan is alleging that San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama is responsible for him and family getting kicked out a New York City hotel on the day of Game 4.
In an interview with the New York Post, Phil Godlewski claimed that he rented out one of the two penthouse suites at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in New York City - a suite that just so happened to be right next door to the one Wemby was staying at.
Godlewski alleges that he saw the Spurs big man exiting the suite and wished him good luck. He said that shortly afterwards the hotel's director of rooms operations and three security members entered his suite and told them to leave the room because there were complaints that he was "harassing and waiting for the players to exit their rooms."
"And that was a lie because I literally look up, and there's a camera right over her head in the hallway," Godlewski said. "She was just trying to just get us the heck out of there. She didn't care what actually happened. She didn't care how it happened. All she cared about was Victor complained to his security team."
Godlewski claims that he has already contacted a lawyer about his removal from the hotel.
"If they had said, ‘Listen, you're staying on the same floor as one of the players. You cannot engage with the player. You have to stay in your room until he leaves the premises, we would have been like, ‘OK, no problem.'"
The truth?
NBA fans were mixed in reactions to the story. Some believe it shows that Wembanyama is soft, while others believe that it sounds like a made up story.
"Clearly Knicks fans are in wembys head lmao , what a wimp ,you're 22 years old , you ain't some god," one user remarked.
"This is insane. Next level hating," wrote another.
"As much as Victor Von Doom is a villain, calling absolute NY Post BS on this story. - Guy happens to book in the same hotel everyone knows the Spurs are at - Booted b/c he said "good luck" - Son previously burns an autographed jersey - Other son is a fan now wants to do the same," a third wrote.
"There's no way you believe this," another said.
If this allegation actually turns into a court case then maybe there will be something more here. Until then, it's just an allegation.
