Notre Dame Football Poised to Land 4-Star Wide Receiver with Family Ties

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish's 2027 recruiting class continues to grow. Led by head coach Marcus Freeman, they have already landed 18 commitments and rank No. 3 in the nation, according to On3.

However, one position they haven't had much success with is wide receiver. Their only addition so far is three-star Jackson Coleman. It has now become a point of emphasis moving forward.

Notre Dame is targeting several talented options, including Julius Jones Jr. out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. At 5-foot-10 and 170 pounds, he is a four-star recruit, the No. 14 wide receiver and the No. 81 player in the nation, according to Rivals Industry Rankings.

He is set to have an official visit with Notre Dame on Friday, which will mark his third overall visit in South Bend. According to Rivals' director of recruiting, Chad Simmons, signs are pointing toward Jones joining the Fighting Irish.

"Miami and Oregon generated buzz at various points in the process, especially the Ducks, but Notre Dame has consistently occupied the driver's seat and the four-star out of South Florida is expected to be part of the program his father played for in the near future," Simmons wrote.

While Notre Dame is an attractive opportunity for high school recruits, Jones' family connection to the program may be a factor. His father, Julius Jones, was a running back for the team from 1999 to 2003. He rushed for 3,018 yards and 26 touchdowns during his time in South Bend.
