Blue Jays Announce Daulton Varsho News Before Cubs Game

Daulton Varsho has become one of the most valuable and versatile players for the Toronto Blue Jays since they acquired him in the 2023 offseason. His elite defense, power, and speed have made him a valuable part of Toronto's lineup.

In 2025, Varsho had a strong all-around season, batting .238 with 20 home runs and 55 RBIs while playing strong defense in left field and center. This season, he was off to another solid start, hitting .256 with 54 hits, 5 home runs, 17 RBIs and 27 runs scored in 64 games, before injury struck.

His momentum came to a sudden halt when he suffered a left wrist injury after diving for a ball against the Philadelphia Phillies in early June. He was placed on the 10-day injured list and has now missed seven games.

On Thursday, before the series finale against the Boston Red Sox, manager John Schneider provided an update on the former Gold Glove winner.

According to Sportsnet's Shi Davidi, Schneider said there is a chance Varsho could be ready to return as early as Saturday when he becomes eligible.

Schneider also noted that Varsho will "have to do a lot" on Friday and if he is not activated this weekend, he may need one or two rehab games.
