Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese Exchange Words During Fever-Dream
Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese met for the eighth time in their WNBA careers on Saturday as the Indiana Fever faced the Atlanta Dream. The teams entered the game tied 1-1 in the season series, with Atlanta winning 108-101 on Thursday.
Reese played a major role in that result, finishing with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Clark also had a great performance, leading all scorers with 26 points and seven assists in the loss.
Saturday was more of the same for Clark. The 24-year-old guard came out firing, scoring 13 points in the first quarter on 5-of-6 shooting from the field and 3-of-4 from beyond the arc as Indiana built a 37-30 lead after one quarter. It was the Fever's highest-scoring first quarter of the season.
However, one of the big moments of the game came with 6:32 left in the first quarter. A foul was called on Dream's Jordin Canada for contact on Clark shortly before Reese attempted to block her shot.
The broadcast captured the two stars exchanging words briefly on the floor, with Clark appearing to wave Reese off before turning toward the sideline for the inbound.

Clark and Reese have become one of the WNBA's biggest head-to-head draws. Their rivalry dates back to the 2023 NCAA championship game, when Reese's LSU Tigers beat Clark's Iowa Hawkeyes.
That moment elevated both players into a different level of stardom, and the rivalry followed them into the WNBA in 2024. Clark was drafted No. 1 overall by the Fever, while the Chicago Sky selected Reese with the No. 7 pick before trading to Atlanta in January.
Clark and Reese are scheduled to meet one more time in the regular season on August 16. With both the Fever and Dream firmly in the Eastern Conference race, a postseason matchup remains very possible. Saturday only added to the anticipation.
