Bubba Wallace Vents Frustration on Radio After Losing Wheel in San Diego Street Race
Things were going so well for Bubba Wallace and the No. 23 team. Then, just before the end of Stage 1, the right front wheel came off his Toyota Camry XSE. With his wheel coming off in Turn 9, NASCAR threw the caution, and Wallace was held on pit road for two laps.
Bubba Wallace had driven himself up into third at one point in the first stage. As the field was beginning to pit and flip the stage, Wallace went to get his four tires and fuel. His front tire changer had a mishap with pit gun, and the wheel wasn't secured.
On his radio, Wallace was very frustrated. He vented some of that frustration to his team with some not-so-polite words.
"There is (expletive) went," Wallace said over the radio, which Prime Video played on the broadcast. "You've got to be (expletive) kidding me."
A tough situation for Bubba Wallace. With the stage coming to an end and the 23 car being held for two laps, he will be in his car for roughly 10 minutes, doing nothing on pit road. That might be more frustrating than losing two laps.
With how this race and the other races have gone during the weekend, there is plenty of time to get back on the lead lap. It won't be easy, but professional sports aren't supposed to be easy.
Will Bubba Wallace make it back to the lead lap? Can he salvage this day and his position in the point standings? Right now, he will have to just do what he can to move forward.
