Nordstrom recalled from Checkers

The Carolina Hurricanes on Sunday recalled forward Joakim Nordstrom from the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League.

Nordstrom was assigned to Charlotte on Thursday for a conditioning stint and played in the Checkers’ games on Saturday and Sunday. He scored Charlotte’s second goal in the team’s 3-2 win on Sunday against Manitoba.

Nordstrom, 23, played in the Hurricanes’ first three games of the season before missing 11games with a lower-body injury.
