Wake Forest will bring Campbell to town a week early, while its game against Notre Dame is moving to the end of the football schedule.

Wake Forest announced it will play its nonconference game against Campbell, an FCS program, at 7 p.m. Oct. 2 — also a Friday night, as the originally scheduled date for the game was Oct. 9.

The move means the Demon Deacons will dodge a three-week break between games, instead giving Wake Forest off weeks this weekend and on the weekend of Oct. 10.

On Tuesday, Notre Dame announced that it would shut down football activities because of 13 positive tests in the last few rounds of COVID-19 testing. That postponed this weekend’s game, and it’s been moved to Dec. 12 – the last available date for ACC teams to play regular-season games.

The ACC championship game is currently set to be played Dec. 12 or 19; the Notre Dame-Wake Forest game is the second ACC to move to the Dec. 12 date, following Virginia-Virginia Tech, which was slated to be played this past weekend.
