Bowl season is near. These 9 Carolinas teams’ chances are looking up, projections say
It’s never too soon to start making holiday travel plans, especially if it’s to support your favorite football team.
The first College Football Playoff rankings of the season were released Tuesday night, and updated bowl projections were not too far behind.
Bowlseason.com released its first projections for this season, including potential landing spots for nine schools in the Carolinas.
No. 9 Wake Forest, No. 19 N.C. State, Coastal Carolina and Appalachian State are already bowl-eligible. Clemson needs one win to become bowl-eligible. Charlotte, East Carolina, UNC and South Carolina all need two more wins.
BowlSeason.com sees those final four schools getting those two wins and even has two of them projected to meet in the postseason.
The Tigers (5-3) would see a streak of six consecutive years in the College Football Playoff come to an end. During that time Clemson won two national championships.
Coming into the season, many thought the North Carolina Tar Heels had a chance of crashing the playoff picture, but UNC has struggled this year and still needs a pair of wins to play past November.
