With less than 24 hours before the February signing day, Clemson has added another walk-on quarterback in DW Daniel High School’s Trent Pearman.

The senior and son of Tigers director of football scouting Danny Pearman made the announcement via Twitter on Tuesday morning. He chose Clemson after receiving offers and interest from Western Carolina and UAB.

“Thank you to Coach Swinney and Coach Streeter for this awesome opportunity! A dream come true!,” Trent Pearman tweeted. “Thank you to everyone who has helped me develop as a person and an athlete!”

Pearman joins Caleb Nix, the younger brother of former Auburn and current Oregon quarterback Bo Nix, as incoming walk-on quarterbacks for the Tigers. Two walk-on spots were freed up after fellow signal callers Hunter Helms and Billy Wiles were put on scholarship this semester.

Pearman’s decision brings Clemson’s quarterback total to seven, which includes grad transfer Hunter Johnson and incoming freshman Cade Klubnik. Johnson is on his second stint with the Tigers after spending the past four seasons at Northwestern, while Klubnik, a five-star recruit and the No. 1 quarterback in the Class of 2022, enrolled at Clemson last month.

Pearman completed his high school career with a 24-0 record at Daniel and back-to-back state championships, the last of which came via a 45-20 win over Camden on Dec. 3. He went 27-for-36 passing with four touchdowns for 272 yards in the contest.

He was named the Gatorade Player of the Year in South Carolina for a second time.
