  • NC Central postpones two doubleheaders, rescheduling games for Feb. 9 and Feb. 18.

The second winter storm this month, with forecasters calling for several inches of snow, caused college basketball programs to make changes to their upcoming schedules.

N.C. State men’s basketball will face Wake Forest at noon Saturday in Winston-Salem. The game was originally scheduled for 3:45 p.m. at Joel Coliseum.

The Wolfpack and Demon Deacons’ matchup will not be broadcast on ESPN’s national networks. Instead, fans can find it on ACC Network Extra, which is included through various cable or streaming packages. It is also available through the ESPN Unlimited subscription. It is not included with an ESPN+ subscription.

Wolfpack head coach Will Wade lamented during his weekly radio show on Thursday that the team has not played well when its games tip at noon. N.C. State is 3-2 when playing at noon, though Wade said his squad is lucky to have won the first matchup with Wake Forest and Pittsburgh.

Wade said prior to the announcement, the staff met to discuss changes to the pregame routine and sleep patterns “to try to get us off to better starts and then, boom, they hit us with a noon tip.”

Wade confirmed the team will change its process.

“We’re gonna find out [how it goes], because we’re gonna change it up for Saturday,” Wade said.

The Pack’s Triangle ACC rivals also have road games on Saturday but neither has been impacted by the weather as of Thursday night.

Duke is set to play at noon against Virginia Tech in Cassell Coliseum in Blacksburg, Virginia. It will be broadcast on ESPN.

No. 16 UNC will face Georgia Tech in Atlanta on Saturday. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. on the ACC Network.

NC Central sets dates for doubleheaders

N.C. Central announced changes to its men’s and women’s basketball schedules, postponing a pair of doubleheaders.

The Eagles will host Delaware State, its doubleheader originally scheduled for Jan. 24, at McDougald-McLendon Arena on Feb. 9. The women’s game is scheduled 5:30 p.m. and followed by the men’s game at 8 p.m.

NCCU’s doubleheader set for Saturday against South Carolina State has been rescheduled to Feb. 18 in Orangeburg, S.C. Tipoff is also scheduled for 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m.

ACC women’s games on schedule

Thus far, women’s basketball teams at Duke, UNC and N.C. State are scheduled to play as planned.

Duke is scheduled to play Wake Forest at noon Sunday at Cameron Indoor Stadium. ACC Network will televise.

On Monday night, UNC plays at N.C. State at 6 p.m. in the annual Play4Kay game, televised by ESPN2.

Carolina Hurricanes schedule

After playing the Utah Mammoth at the Lenovo Center on Thursday night, the Carolina Hurricanes will head to Washington, D.C., to play the Capitals at 5 p.m. on Saturday. If the weather allows them to travel back to N.C., the Canes are scheduled to play the Los Angeles Kings on Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Lenovo Center.
