Duke to Play Wake Forest Tuesday in ACC Tourney

Duke secured the No. 7 in the 2016 ACC Tournament and will face 10th-seeded Wake Forest at 11 a.m.,Tuesday, May 24 at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park.

The Blue Devils (33-21) return to the ACC Tournament for the second time in three years, posting a 14-15 record in conference play with series victories over Georgia Tech, Clemson, Virginia Tech, Florida State and Pitt. Duke began the ACC slate 1-7 before registering a 13-8 mark over the final 22 conference games to clinch a spot in the conference postseason tournament.

The winner of Tuesday’s first-round game between Duke and Wake Forest will join Pool B. No. 2 seed Louisville (46-10, 22-8) leads Pool B along with No. 3 Virginia (36-18, 19-11) and No. 6 Clemson (38-18, 16-14).

Wake Forest 4, No. 4 Louisville 9: The Demon Deacons qualified for the ACC Tournament despite a 9-4 loss to No. 4-ranked Louisville at David F. Couch Ballpark on Saturday afternoon.

The Deacons (32-23, 13-17 ACC) clinched a top-10 spot in the standings thanks to the Wolfpack earning a series win over the Tar Heels on Saturday. The Deacons await their Tuesday opponent pending the completion of a doubleheader between Georgia Tech and Boston College.
