Duke basketball and Coach K get commitment from 5-star forward Paolo Banchero

Mike Krzyzewski is building his latest solid class at Duke.

The Blue Devils’ 2021 recruiting class landed its second five-star target after Paolo Banchero announced his commitment to Duke on Twitter Thursday. The 6-9, 235-pound power forward from O’Dea High in Seattle picked the Blue Devils over Kentucky, Washington, Arizona and Gonzaga.

Banchero is the No. 1 player in the state of Washington and the No. 1 power forward in the nation, according to 247Sports. He’s the No. 3 overall player in the class of 2021. Banchero joins five-star small forward A.J. Griffin (6-7, 200), who committed in November of 2019.

Banchero is the ninth highest ranked player to commit to Krzyzewski., according to 247sports Of the eight Blue Devils ranked ahead of him, six were one and dones.

Duke’s current recruiting class is ranked No. 2 in the ACC and No. 10 in the country.
