Duke not only won a game Friday night but the Blue Devils also picked up a big piece of their future teams.

Jared McCain, a five-star recruit from Corona, California, committed to play basketball at Duke beginning in 2023.

The 6-2, 175-pound McCain, a shooting guard, is the No. 23 player nationally, according to the 247sports.com composite rankings. He picked Duke over Gonzaga, Houston and Kansas.

McCain visited Duke on Feb. 6 and took a visit to Gonzaga the following weekend.

Duke now has three five-star players in the Class of 2023 who have committed to play for the Blue Devils and associate head coach Jon Scheyer, who will take over as head coach when Mike Krzyzewski retires following this season.

Caleb Foster, a 6-5 point guard from Oak Hill Academy (Va.), and Sean Stewart, a 6-8 power forward from Windermere, Florida, join McCain in Duke’s class, which is ranked No. 1 nationally. Scheyer and Duke also have the No. 1 class for the class of 2022.
